2016 Mountain Bike Jamboree

The little bit of light rain that is coming through Friday night should be just enough to keep the dust down when the hundreds of Jamboree riders hit the Fair Hill trails Saturday morning. It's going to be a bit chilly to start though and breezy throughout the day, so bring a jacket you can stuff into your pack.

What is a Jamboree?

The Jamboree is a fun family-friendly day of mountain bike riding, food, beer, music, games and prizes. The event takes place on the fair grounds and surrounding parkland of the Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area (Fair Hill, MD) which is a 5,600 acre park with a 80+ mile multi-use trail system which the Trailspinners have been instrumental in developing for mountain biking.

This is not a race. There will be several marked trail loops of various lengths and difficulties to choose from and you may ride at your own pace, or join (or invite yourself) to a group ride. Ride a gentle loop with the family, then a not so gentle loop afterward (or try an keep up with your kids if they're getting faster than you). If you're new to Fair Hill, you'll get a chance to learn some of its wonders. If you spin miles here every week, step up and lead some out-of-towners through your favorite sections.

There will be demo bikes from BIKE LINE, NENRY'S and REI back at the fairgrounds that you can sign out (bring an ID). If you're in the market for a new bike, or are just want to see how the trails feel on something different, this is a great opportunity to get some saddle time on a new 2017 Scott, Trek, Niner, Yeti or Ghost bike.

The goal is for everyone to have a fun morning riding and then enjoy a festive atmosphere in the afternoon socializing with other riders. All proceeds from the event directly benefit trail building, trail maintenance and mountain bike advocacy in our region.
