Scheduled Rides

The Tuesday Evening Beginner Ride

Every Tuesday evening (weather permitting) leaves from the Gallaher Road Parking lot at Fair Hill at 5:30pm. This means ready to ride at 5:30.

This is an easy paced ride that sometimes breaks into smaller groups according to ability. We usually try to always have an easy route back to the parking lot. Figure on 5 to 10 miles of single track with frequent stops. Nobody gets dropped. All abilities are welcome.

While we call this a beginner ride, it's not limited to just beginners. Usually there's a good mix of abilities and there's lots of advice and tips to be shared. This is a good ride to start out with and see how your abilities compare to other riders.

YOU MUST BRING WATER!

A list of things to consider bringing can be found here.

The Wednesday Evening Beginner +

White Clay/Middle Run Wednesday evening beginner+ ride.  Ride is co-sponsored by Eastern Mountain Sports and the Delaware Trail Spinners.  Ride leaves Judge Morris lot at 5:30 PM, parking fee is charged, all rider levels welcomed but beginners are encouraged to attend and the length of ride, skills covered and pace will  be adjusted for all newcomers to the sport.  Most days end with a “hop up the hill” to McGlynns Pub for those interested in a sandwich and brew after the ride.

YOU MUST BRING WATER AND A HELMET!

The Thursday Evening Moderate Pace.

Every Thursday evening (weather permitting) leaves from the North Appleton Road Parking lot at Fair Hill at 5:30pm. This means ready to ride at 5:30.

This is an moderate paced fun and friendly ride that sometimes breaks into smaller groups according to ability. Figure on 10 - 15 miles of single track with some stops at about an 8 to 10+ mph pace (don't worry, we'll break into groups). Nobody gets dropped. There is an expectation that you are comfortable on single track and at least somewhat self sufficient, meaning you could make minor repairs such as fix a flat tire.

Ride Basics

Many community members have asked the Delaware Trail Spinners to provide guided rides. Many of the requests come from first-time or beginner riders and some come from more experienced riders new to the area. Since we promote responsible mountain biking, we feel a need to respond. (Actually, we jump at any chance to ride our bikes.)
